How to Melt Chocolate Chips in Microwave – The chocolate, with the cocoa butter it contains, is a very fragile product: to be handled with gentleness and delicacy. Especially if you want to make it reach high temperatures.

But to understand it, let’s start with some explanations about the operation of the microwave oven. In fact, the waves only penetrate up to 2 cm maximum inside the product. These waves excite the water molecules contained in the chocolate. All excited, these molecules dance, jostle and collide so hard that it makes them warm. Then the heat spreads gently (near and close) towards the whole chocolate.

So to melt your chocolate in the microwave safely, the best thing to do is:

Set the power of your oven not too loud (350 to 500 w max): It is warming smoothly.
Stop it every 30 then 20 then 10 seconds, check the consistency of the chocolate and mix it (with a plastic spatula): so we accelerate and above all we homogenize the spread of the heat. When the consistency suits us, it’s ready. It doesn’t take more than three to four minutes!
And if it is to coat your rocks or make small Easter fish, be sure to leave aside 1/3 of product aside before melting, to add it then into the melted chocolate and thus to be developed by sowing!
