Smith Brothers of Berne Furniture Review

Last summer we bought a leather sofa, love seat, chair and ottoman from Smith Brothers through mobile housewives in Urbandale, Iowa. We have been very disappointed with the quality of this furniture. We bought it thinking we were buying the best that housewives offered and we had nothing but problems with it. All parts have been replaced twice due to some defect. We’re in our third set and we’re still in trouble. Housewives have been good at replacing items that have problems, but I’m getting tired of dealing with it. I thought this third set would be nice, but after a few months of almost no use, the cushions look terrible. I wonder what it’s going to look like after a couple of years. I asked a Smith Brothers representative to come to our house, but the housewives told me they don’t make home calls. Everything has to be secured through the housewives. I’d like to return these things and start over! We have been waiting about 2 months now for 2 cushions to be replaced, and have not yet arrived. Now, another cushion is doing the same thing.

About Smith Brothers of Berne: I have several leather pieces and upholstery made by Smith Brothers and purchased at Andrea’s Furniture in Sugarcreek, Ohio. These pieces are used daily and are the most comfortable chairs/sofa I have ever had. The quality workmanship is evident from the moment your rump lands on a cushion: my family and friends act like vultures floating to take possession when one of these chairs becomes vague. Well worth the money!

I live in Des Moines Iowa.
The mobile housewives here lead To Smith Brothers. I just got my first piece: a chair and a footrest. I love it. I’m waiting to get more.

Does anyone know of a retailer transporting the Smith brothers in the St Paul/MPLS area of Minnesota? Or even near Hudson Wisconsin?

Four years ago, we bought an expensive Ottoman leather chair made by Smith Bros. Bern. Totally dissatisfied! Leather has a finishing material. This finish is cracking on the cushion and ottoman pipe. Unable to learn to contact the company directly, we call our retailer. He called Smith, whose best offer was to sell us another cushion case. Now this floor material is using one of the armrests.

We have another leather chair that is over 30 years old, and it didn’t give any problems. Smith Brothers Leather is deficient and not behind your product.
